Cal Academy Butterfly Festival
The rainforest dome within the Academy of Sciences is host to more than 1,600 live animals, including 250 free-flying birds and butterflies and close to 100 exotic reptiles and amphibians. When the exhibits team installed a brand new butterfly emergence chamber along with many rainforest updates, the Butterfly Festival became the promotional springtime event to announce the reopening.

Colorful butterfly illustrations were created for cross-collateral promotion including signage and environmental way-finding.

Small scale mock-ups and floor plans helped us determine installation placement of large hanging butterflies.

These bright and playful friends flutter overhead and up the sides of the rainforest dome, guiding visitors to the entrance.
